Happy Birthday, Geo!

By Eric Engelmann, President & CEO

It’s hard to take time to reflect on the past when we have so much going on in the present, but on a birthday it’s kind of expected.

We’re always asked about our company’s history…and that seems like the most logical place to start.  Geonetric is the proverbial ‘software company in a basement’ success story.  In our humble beginnings, we built Web applications for companies in a variety of industries.  In 2000, we had the opportunity to create a CMS for a large health system.  It was through this project we discovered a need in the healthcare industry for a smarter, more intuitive CMS system- and VitalSite was born.

One after another we built our client base with hospitals impressed both with VitalSite and our service.   We doubled in employee size, moved offices, bought a new espresso machine, doubled in size again.  We were named to the Inc. 5000 list of the fastest growing companies in the country.  Our clients won 17 awards for Web Excellence in 2007.  Geonetric was honored as Software Company of the Year by the Technology Association of Iowa.  We were named the best place to work in the Iowa City/Cedar Rapids Corridor by The Edge Magazine.

Geonetric has built a team of 54 intelligent and creative people and a ground-breaking product - which we continue to improve upon.  And, we’ve accomplished all of this in just nine years.

This is success. But we are not done yet.  We are hard at work improving VitalSite.  We’re adding even more modules to the 30 we already offer. We’re working with our clients on new, innovative projects. We’re busy researching trends in eHealth.  We’re speaking at events all over the country. We’re conducting Webinars and writing articles. And, most importantly, we’re busy helping hospitals and health systems implement Web sites that build relationships with their audiences.

We’ve come a long way since we started this company in 1999.

And by the way, if you want to send a birthday gift, we love coffee.
