Top Ten, Baby

October 30, 2008

By Eric Engelmann, President & CEO

When we applied for Modern Healthcare’s top 100 places to work in the healthcare industry award, we didn’t know what to expect.  But since we’d received local recognition, being named one of the Best Place to Work in the Corridor, we thought why not?!

There was quite a bit of paperwork to fill out and all of our employees had to take an in-depth survey. But overall it was painless and gave us an opportunity to brag about all of the things we do that makes us “Geonetric.”

“Work Expands So As To Fill The Time Available For Its Completion”

October 28, 2008

By Matt Youngblut, Technology Implementation Manager

What a phrase!  Every time I say “I have all day to clean the…”, it inevitably takes me all day.  The total amount of work to do might add up to an hour or two, but it usually doesn’t get done until the end of the day.  I tend to fill in the gaps with other things I want to do – basically anything other than cleaning.  I know I’m not the only person to do this – my friends and family are the same way.  In fact, I see it at the workplace.  I bet you do too.

Do You Have a “Content Vision” Plan?

October 24, 2008

By Angie Toomsen, Content Strategist

Two weeks ago GeoVoices extolled the virtues of “content vision” — and promised some “quick tips” to help you fashion a plan to organize your content management process. Well, here they are!

Oh, and I’m sorry to say that “quick tips” really only means these tips are quick to type and quick to read. If they are quick to implement, you either have a large, highly-trained staff of content specialists on hand or, more likely, you aren’t fully carrying these out. These suggestions are skeletal. They merely scratch the surface, and each tip represents the potential for a great deal of thought and commensurate legwork. Like your content itself, you can’t “set-and-forget” these processes.

Introducing our Latest Web Site

October 22, 2008

By Megan Heater, Senior Project Manager

I recently had the opportunity to help ProHealth Care launch a new Web site.  This project represents a unified ‘coming together’ theme.

For ProHealth Care, this was the ‘coming together’ of many separate but similar Web sites.   As we started this project, one major goal for ProHealth Care was to consolidate all five of their major sites into one unified Web presence.   Imagine the amount of information and data coming from four different sources that needed to be reviewed and re-purposed and consolidated into one single message.   ProHealth did an outstanding job working with their internal organization to orchestrate this effort.

Agile Project Management: A Solution to the Changing Project Landscape

October 16, 2008

By Sandra VanWyk-Fancher, Vice President of Operations

You’re a born Project Manager: you love lists, you live to organize and plan, and you enjoy evaluating risks and alternatives.  Even the family holiday dinner brings out assignments and due dates.

So when the environment changes and there are new rules to being a successful Project Manager, how do you adapt?  The number of professionally trained PMs keeps growing, yet our project success rate remains the same. We need to rethink our approach.  If we can’t adapt to increasing complex projects, we will fail.

Technology + Healthcare = Change for All

October 14, 2008

By Kristen Everett, Data Analyst

The 21st century is bringing many changes to the healthcare industry; PHRs, EHRs, RHIOs, and a stronger online presence are just a few indications.  Focus is shifting to IT and an “information at your fingertips” approach.

So how does this affect each and every hospital/health system in the country?

Geonetric Making a Difference

October 10, 2008

By Deb Rolfes, Market Development Strategist

It seems like every company talks about giving back to their community.  But at Geonetric, the proof is in our actions.

Take this weekend for example.  It’s the 18th annual Especially for You Women’s Race Against Breast Cancer and Geonetric is showing its commitment by organizing a team.

Congrats on Your Web Launch—But Don’t Get Too Comfy

October 9, 2008

By Angie Toomsen, Content Strategist

Well, you made it to launch. It’s been quite a haul, but you crossed the finish line. Let’s pause and consider all you’ve accomplished: vendor selection, contract negotiations, project timelines, untying the Gordian knot of an unruly, overgrown IA, forms requirements, appeasing internal stakeholders, content inventory and development (and placement), third-party apps integration, imports/exports, exports/imports, CMS training — and that’s just the short list!

Have they forgotten about me?

October 2, 2008

By Ben Dillon, Vice President & eHealth Evangelist

I think it’s safe to say that no one enjoys a trip to the emergency room, and no factor looms larger as a source of dread than the wait you experience when you get there.  And no wonder, given an average emergency department (ED) wait time of more than four hours, according to Press Ganey.

Your Talent Is Your Brand

October 1, 2008

By Eric Engelmann, President & CEO

On the heels of our 3rd annual E-Health Symposium comes word that Geonetric has been voted a “Best Place to Work in Healthcare” by Modern Healthcare magazine. Those two important events in Geonetric’s history are juxtaposed nicely in my mind because our Symposium brings together our clients and our entire team.
